Fingerprints
‘Fingerprint’ focuses on the fragility and transience of memory, becoming wearable pieces that connect individuals, holding them in a moment, and grounding them in the permanence of art. Each piece is a testament to the unique connections between my family members, and throughout its making, captures the love these individuals have with each other. My mother with my dad, my family and myself and my Ninang with my Lola— ‘Fingerprint’ is a means of love and connection, transforming the traditional use of fingerprinting into a profound method of remembrance, not just holding time but feeling it.
This was my second attempt at jewellery making, specifically using wax and then getting it cast at the foundry. Here I explore different techniques in terms of imprinting onto wax, riveting, sawing and moulding to create four pieces of jewellery for my family and myself.
